Diamond Creek - Volcanic Hill - 2001
Thrilling is the best way to describe this one. Forward with rasberry jam intuitions followed by layers of tannic flavor filtering from smoked meat to the ultimate smooth leathery after taste. Having recently tasted the 03, I was curious to compare the vintages 01 is a better mixture, through and through. Looking forward to see how it stands up to the 98 in the cellar.
Paul Jaboulet Aine - La Chapelle - 2001
Beautiful. Extremely tight. Much stronger than even the most wicked Napa cab. The label says that this one will keep for 30+ years. I believe this and plan to stash one away to cork one out in 2047. Amazing structure even at its young age.
The nose adapted throughout the course of an hour to a supple mixture of earthy copper with a flowery perfume undertone. Inhale deeply on every delicious sample.

Brunello di Montalcino
Ciacci Piccolomini D'Aragona 1997. Clean nose with strong hints of licorice.
E Guigal - Cotie Rotie - El Turque - 1996
Nose of butter, vanilla, and essence of lime. Acidic flavor with the sweetness of citrus.
Elio Atare Viticoltore Barolo 1990
Supple on the tongue with a nose of roses and a hint of tannin to carry the copper toned cherry flavor to the finish.
Hartwell Cabernet Sauvignon 2000
This napa valley gem is smooth on the front end, with a smokey finish that sits vigilantly on the back of the pallet. Overall the effect is stong on tannins and long on flavor.
Enjoyed while overlooking mount diablo near walnut creek, ca.
