Dahlmeyer Jayson 2003

Bright ruby coloring. A nose filled with a nutty, spicey aroma. Flavor was strong on the tongue. Chocolate and anise on the front. Borderline medicinal through the middle, but it never breaks down and stays tart and bright as its color. A strong wine and worthy of the cellar.

Achaval Ferrer - Malbec 2005 - Quimera

Animal and licorice nose with a strong foreshadowing of the spicey pallet. The taste is sweet to start but gives way to an interesting combination of roasted meats, grilled prawn and ultimately a very balanced and earthy aftertaste. The tannins and oak components are not overly strong, but it does seem that this Merlot / Cabernet Savignon / Cabernet Franc blend will set down nicely and grow through the years.
